Projects

FortiGate firewall installation and configuration:

Open Source

This project focuses on installing and configuring a FortiGate firewall to enhance network security. It involves setting up basic firewall configurations, including network and application filtering, to control traffic and block unwanted sites. Both SSL and IPsec VPNs will be implemented for secure remote access. Additionally, an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) will be configured to detect and prevent potential threats. The project will conclude with performance tests, a security audit, and the delivery of detailed documentation on the setup and policies applied.

OpenStack security using IDS and honeypots

Open Source

The project aims to enhance the security of an OpenStack-based IaaS environment by implementing Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and honeypots. It involves exploring different types of IDS in the cloud, comparing their features, and identifying the most suitable solutions for cloud environments. The next step is to implement the selected IDS within the OpenStack infrastructure, ensuring effective monitoring and threat detection. Honeypots will also be integrated to detect and analyze potential intrusions or malicious activities within the cloud environment.

Deploying and Configuring a Virtual Infrastructure

Open Source

YThe project focuses on the deployment and configuration of a VMware-based virtual infrastructure. It begins with a literature review on virtualization to understand key concepts. The next steps involve setting up VMware ESX Server, VMware VirtualCenter, and the Virtual Infrastructure Client. Tasks also include managing virtual machines, configuring access control for the virtual infrastructure, and setting up alarms for ESX servers and virtual machines to monitor performance and detect issues. The goal is to ensure a well-configured and efficiently managed virtual environment.

research initiation thesis (final year project)

Open Source

The objective of this project was to evaluate the performance of various anomaly detection algorithms based on clustering techniques. The key tasks involved testing these algorithms across multiple datasets and comparing their performance to draw conclusions on their efficiency in detecting anomalies.

IoT security project

Open Source

YThe project involved securing an IoT application by creating an autonomous web server using a Raspberry Pi to display temperature and humidity data from a DHT22 sensor, as well as controlling an ESP8266 device via the MQTT protocol. The communication between two Ubuntu machines was secured by encrypting the MQTT broker's communication channel using SSL/TLS, ensuring a secure exchange of data within the IoT system. This approach enhanced both the functionality and security of the IoT environment.

TOF web application for color image pre-processing in PHP

Open Source

The project focused on developing a web application in PHP for simulating color image preprocessing techniques. A PHP interface was created to allow users to apply various image enhancement techniques, and the application was tested on a dataset of images to evaluate its performance and effectiveness in improving image quality. The project demonstrated the practical implementation of image processing techniques within a web environment.
